Tips on keeping the house cool without air conditioning? Moved from Texas to Western Europe where A/C isn’t common in homes, yet it’s all I knew growing up! Ideas beyond the obvious of keeping shades drawn during peak sunshine and windows open at night?

Buy a portable A/C unit for your bedroom. For cheaper you can get what in the US we referred to as a swamp cooler.

I moved from the US to the UK- you don't get used to it just pay for one.

Buy a portable fan and suffer like the rest of us.

Lol, that’s where we’re at right now!

Hang dry your laundry. Makes a difference.

Live in a house which is built to be cool in the summer. The nice stone buildings cool the air throughout the day, as the stone gradually heats. Then keeps the place warm in the evening. The Greeks worked this out like 4000 years ago.

ACD1: exactly. The housing stock in America is laughably bad. The concept of ‘punching the wall’ doesn’t really exist in Europe because you’d break your hand.

Ugh, I couldn't live without ac. I know privileged.

My brick building is an oven during peak sun hours. I’m on the top floor and the sun just roasts it

Dehumidifier and/or evaporative cooler

A swamp cooler only really works well if the relative humidity is low. We use a portable a/c unit for cooling and dehumidifier. But the reason it’s not prevalent in Western Europe is probably the cost of electricity is high.

Get a Vornado fan - they actually push air and have higher CFM.

Question to Leadership!
1. You are calling all the employees in the office & just providing lunch? That's all for completing 150 years?
2. You would ask questions, and whoever is able to answer it, you will give some merchandise only to them?, And the other people are not your employees?
Why are you even organizing it? You think people would come from far places just for lunch?

I have an interview coming up with Church & Dwight. When the recruiter emailed me with 3 interview times I thought he was asking me what time works best. Turns out he was telling me I was scheduled for 3 different interviews for 3 different teams in one day. Has anyone heard of a company doing that or gone through this for an interview? It seems odd to me

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.
