When such a thing happened to me once during my stay at a 3-star hotel, I got rid of all my luggage and the hotel chain reimbursed me for everything. I did consider going to a lawyer for this but didn’t have to because the hotel manager worked with me and reimbursed everything. I didn’t get a single thing from that hotel home.
They don’t have to open your bag to heat treat it though that does leave a question of verifying that they did. Getting rid of everything seems a bit extreme as the bag and clothes are easily treated and being cold outside provides and easy storage option even if it is in your car. I would say hiring a law firm at this stage wouldn’t be very productive. Personally I would ask that they purchase you a heat tent to treat it yourself. That way you can have it on hand for the rest of your travels. Come home and all your stuff goes into the tent. Protect yourself from other hotels that might now be as forthcoming.
and I am worried something might have come back with me because I found out on the last day at the hotel. they promised to put my stuff in a heating tent but when I checked the luggage, nothing had been moved. I was doing online research and came across a law firm that offers support for bed bug problems at Marriott chains. Is it worth going through this route or should I just email the hotel for better compensation? I dont care as much about the points, but want to understand if I should be discarding all clothes and luggage? I posted on the consulting bowl and got mixed responses for discarding or dry heating the the clothes. I have placed my luggage outside since then in below freezing weather. any advice?
Well I know where I’m never staying
