My dad's a senior software architect getting 35 lpa for 18 years work experience in cognizant. His tech stack is AEM and he has worked on angular and Java Projects as well. Since he is getting underpaid a lot ... Hopefully someone can refer him Adobe or some product companies. Even service company with good pay also is acceptable

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Go home chill, apply to grad school. Or you can get a tourist visa.
Yea it's all rushed because he only has a month left on his OPT. They're just registering at city hall and having a proper wedding in a year. But they live in different cities so he has to move and look for a new job anyway. Seems like such a headache. I feel terrible for anyone who didn't get h1b
H-1 peeps: what are your options if you lose re lottery. I am an immigration advocate and was wondering.
Can you try for L-1?
Don't think I'm eligible for that..
No. Confirmed by talent
What is that lottery?
Thanks D1. @D2 our fates are determined by a random lottery. If successful, we'll be allowed to stay in the US for up to 6yrs and be eligible for a green card. If unsuccessful, gotta leave the country in <1yr (6 mths in my case)
Wow that's savage I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck!
D2 thanks!
Try CPT, not ideal...but it's an option
Sorry OP, that really sucks. Are you leaving the country then? I have 2 friends who didn't get the lottery, one is transferring to London and the other is marrying his American gf.
That's a good reason to propose hahaha
Not sure, will have to check with Talent and see my options..
To my understanding:
1) join a non profit or job that doesn't require h1b visa
2) go back to school that gives you Clt
3) go out of the country for a new job
*CPT (work permit while studying)
Non profit jobs or jobs at educational institutions are cap exempt (you don't go through a lottery), so you'd still need the visa, but the application and approval process is easier than the regular visa filing process
