Is it just me or are there entirely too many people in Business Services, specifically TC’s, who are just folks from client service that don’t want to deal with hours and travel anymore but have no formal training in the Business Services function they transition to? It seems to me very few TC’s are professionals in HR with any background, training or certifications in HR.

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

It’s been asked before whether it’s worth it to pay (~$150) to upgrade a 3 hr flight. I generally agree it is not. But what if your two tweenagers bicker nonstop and are complete and total jerks to you all the time and your spouse chooses the “they’ll grow out of it” approach to things so basically you just want 3 hours of alone time. Then is it worth it?

(Note, in this scenario, they are all entirely too naive to realize it isn’t a system comped upgrade.)

Anyone know any biotechs/Pharma (ideally oncology-focused) that are looking for a VP (or even SD for the right TC) of BD/CorpDev and allowing for remote/travel models (if not Boston-based) or at least a Boston-based hybrid model? I know someone with good biotech/Pharma BD&L experience that is looking for a new role given the current biotech layoff scene. How rare is it for a consulting firm to hire someone who doesn't want to relocate to one of their offices but can still travel to clients? Interested in a firm that doesn't have an office in my city
