Both cities are awesome. Personal preference, depending on what you’re into. I slightly prefer Paris but London is interesting. You won’t care about $100 after you’re there.
Paris is far and away better than London. The food is not even comparable, the sights are better. Hell I think Parisians are more pleasant to deal with than Londoners. (Learn some basic french tho)
I’ve been to both several times with friends and solo but definitely prefer London.
What do you do on solo trip? I’ve been to London previously with family but want to go again solo because I love it. Just don’t know what I would do by myself. (31F)
London every time.
There’s so much more the England than London and so much more to France than Paris. If you stick to London then you can add on a day/overnight trip to another city or town via train.
My faves:
Oxford
York
Moreton-in-Marsh (Cotswolds)
London is much easier to navigate and I found locals to be more accommodating. I found the french snobiness stereotype to be true when I was in Paris and it very much diminished my opinion of the city
I prefer Paris!
Just stick with London. They’re both great places. If you really want to do Paris you could take the train or a cheap flight there for a one night thing or something.
Pro
You might be able to change the ticket to an open jaw flying into London and out of Paris (you’ll save on taxes with that order vs the reverse, as the UK has higher “APD” departure fees for long haul flights, particularly in premium cabins).
Between the two cities, I’d go for Paris. The couchsurfing app can be a good way to meet other travelers if you’re looking for people to hang out with (without actually couchsurfing). All that aside, I’d suggest Barcelona, Madrid, or Prague instead. Less expensive, fewer attempts to scam tourists, and better food. (And I’ve lived in London and been to Paris many times.) Italy is great too, but probably best avoided right now.

Doing London solo in April as well! Have done both already and London is a bit easier but both are excellent of course
Exciting! Any recommendations?

Prefer Paris. The restaurants, the canals, architecture, the Galeries Lafayette...the whole atmosphere of this old, gorgeous city is so beautiful, made better by the BOULANGERIES.
London is just another western city, albeit with decent shopping. I liked visiting when I was working in Germany and surrounded by a sea of “functional” fashion.
Paris has so much history with a unique charm to it. My fav restaurant in Paris is L’Apibo if you are looking for recs
I’d go with Paris, personally.

I’m going to just be that guy.... I don’t think the cities are comparable. And both cities are fabulous. Both cities have wonderful diversity and fantastic food (not English food though). London is massive, Paris (old Paris) is surprisingly small. I think Paris Metro is a bit easier than London, but can’t really compare them. Both are great systems. Paris stays up later and parties a little harder (the legal side at least).
So to answer your question: you should do Paris as a first trip. Don’t try to do both on the same trip - you’ll dilute it too much. come back to London for a second trip. I think you’ll get better weather in Paris in May. London is better in late summer I think.

I prefer London, but I just generally prefer "Germanic" countries, despite also speaking French. Paris is a great city with a ton of things to do. Can't go wrong with either.
Plus being on Continental Europe, you can make very convenient side trips to Amsterdam, Lyon, etc. without getting on a plane.
Just went to London for a solo trip last weekend. It was amazing. Highly recommend. It feels less lonely since you’re in an English speaking country.
How did you spend your time solo? I’m interested in doing the same for 3-4 days. Been to London before with Fam
Paris! Always Paris. Macarons, wine, views, and everyone leaves you alone so you can enjoy everything.
Both have their charms. I prefer Paris as a “walk and see the sights” city. Avoid tourist areas and do a little research to avoid the unsafe areas. It’s been awhile since I’ve been so I’m out of date in the specifics of each of those. Rodin museum and the musee d’orsay are two spots I remember fondly.
I did a 5 week solo backpack trip as a girl and I absolutely loved paris!! The city is beautiful there are so many unique things to see and do and I felt completely safe! If you're down for the hostel life, stay at St. Christopher's inn in Gare du Nord

Originally bought ticket for London in April (basic economy) but they are letting me change ticket for free and in May, it’s cheaper than my original ticket and I can go with main cabin. Paris seems more interesting but I will have to pay 100 more
