The engagement/marriage piece is less relevant since it’s not necessarily for everyone who wants to be a parent. But I’m 30 and just got engaged, getting married early spring next year. Due to other fertility issues my partner and I both have (Hashimoto’s for me, history testicular torsion for him) of we are taking it very seriously and got our fertility checked already. We will start trying next spring.
You are never too young to be proactive about your fertility and reproductive health 😀
Think it’s best for you and your partner to get checked if you both know you want children together. 33 now but felt we wasted a year following several obgyn’s rec on natural TTC for 1 yr. Turns out we both have issues and RE said we had <3% chance for natural TTC.

I’d recommend getting fertility testing ASAP. We (30F and 28M) tried to conceive for a year and a half naturally only to find out that we both had fertility issues (PCOS, hypothyroidism, poor sperm morphology). Ended up doing IVF and are at 31 weeks.
Some people never get married. You need to determine how long is too long for you to wait if marriage is what you want. It took my husband 7 years to propose and I had to give him an ultimatum. 10 years later we're still going strong lol.
It wouldn't hurt to get tested to see what your fertility levels are. I went through IVF to get pregnant. We started fertility testing when I was 33. Due to complications and repeated attempts to get pregnant, I continued testing until I was 36 and my levels never changed. So despite getting older, I didn't have a decreasing egg count. Age does play a factor but I would say just because you're over 30 doesn't necessarily mean anything. Heck I became geriatric before becoming pregnant!
Discuss these things with your partner.
Check (both) your stats now. It is a fundamental design flaw that AMH, ovarian reserve, plus urological analyses etc. are not part of standard of care to, at the very least, allow for future options with your own health data.
