I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

I don't know anyone who sits down in front of their computer and stays there the entire 8 hours. I certainly don't. I work for an hour, grab water or a coffee, pop into a coworker's office, sit back down, rinse, repeat. I probably only work 4-5 hours in a given day, and that's more than enough time for me to get my work done.

Yeah that is great
I’m lucky if I’m out before 10 hours. I probably have ~30-60 minutes in a day not doing work (lunch and breaks)

Oh that is terrible
Certainly, an office job is less productive than a lab job, maybe that is the reason an operative work is best paid. For instance, a QC/QA department is the most expensive for a company than the production area itself.

I don't really think it's expected to work a full 8 hours no break. In reality those small breaks allow hours of productivity. All within reason though!

I think that is a fair approach
Every day is a little different. My first 2 hours of the day are usually straight work. Then it’s breaks, quick catch-up chats. Fair to say closer to 8 and a half or 9 hours.
