The number of dead and wounded from the 2 mass shootings of the weekend is still smaller than a typical weekend in Chicago where strict gun laws have been in place for years. Maybe we should start the gun confiscations there to check out methods for door to door searches and seizures before taking the plans national?

Move over. Where do we begin? Universal background checks, ban ownership for anyone convicted of domestic violence or other violent crimes, no high volume cartridges, no silencers for civilian weapons, 7 day cooling off period before sale, biometric triggers, required verification of a secured lock box/gun safe, no military level guns for civilians only hunting or hand gun allowed and raise age of ownership to 26. Limit personal arms per person to no more than two. Ban ownership by anyone with mental health challenges. Tax bullets, allow for the civil suits against manufacturers. For starters all of these will reduce gun violence. Also commit any crime with a gun tack on an automatic 20 years to sentencing.

there is no one solution to any of this. there are tons of things that need to change. gun laws are only a small piece. Everything from how we socialize with each other, social media, Hollywood, video games, and parenting just to name a few. Parenting is something we are all responsible for. Lil Johnny gets everything he wants even if mom and daddy have to bend some rules. then all of a sudden lil Johnny is an adult and mommy can't protect him anymore and he never learned how to deal with being told NO. lots needs to change and it all starts with each of us.
while said anything about blaming pop culture? my point is there is no 1 single solution and there are many societal factors that come I to play. that was just one example and doesn't mean its everyone either.
Unpopular fact: if there are mass confiscations of guns around the country I promise you there will be a civil war.

no one can afford not to be direct on this issue. This is all on Republicans so they should be directly targeted here. That's not to say that there's Democrats that don't agree with them. It's still all dependant on Republicans in Congress to do their jobs.

SBS, the car analogy is instructive in that it can highlight the difference even a handful of regulations can make. Since we likely aren't getting rid of all guns anytime soon, we should recognize reality and not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
I absolutely agree that guns are, by the nature of what they do, dangerous in a way that cars aren't. That doesn't mean that we should provide unfettered access to guns for people with ill intent or people with mental health issues.

Here is my issue. There are 300 million guns in circulation in America. One for every man, woman and child. Other than confiscation, how can you make worthwhile change?
If you want strict gun control, at least be honest about what it will take. Banning AR-15 sales will do nothing. There are already 5-10 million in circulation.
