Depends on your kids’ ages! My 4yo helps clean up the dishes after dinner and we do the rest of the chores after he’s in bed during the week. Then we do one chore together over the weekend (e.g., wash the car or vacuum the house). If he reads a book by himself he gets 1 hour of Minecraft with dad. Then the rest of the weekend is being outside or playing as much as possible. We try to take advantage of free activities like museum days and Home Depot workshop days. Most household items are on subscribe and save so all shopping is mainly grocery shopping. As for hobbies? Lol I’m a parent in advertising…
Do stuff together. The best Saturdays are just sitting in my kids’ playroom and enjoying them. If there’s stuff to do, get them involved. They just want to be a part of our lives, and I love seeing my kids connect the dots.
I always try to remember that, if you’re excited about something, your kid will be excited with you. So, read a book with them, draw a picture, build something, go to a museum or the zoo. We can all enjoy a hobby together, and it’s a little piece of you that you can give them.
Then, when they crash at the end of the day, that’s time for you to spend decompressing from the week (or working on a deck for Monday 🫣)
Give up having a life :D
