It all depends on the product offered by your community or your brand, but in any case for fast growth use ads, they are relatively easy to use and make you grow fast.

You must make a personal branding plan, implementing strategies and techniques of personal branding without forgetting to learn from experts in personal marketing, check their blogs and keep updated to apply everything you learn.
If your community has little time and is just beginning, I recommend creating content, landing pages, and ads, all at the same time, you will see brutal growth in just months.

Invest in seeding the community and really understand where your target demo tends to hang out and why that platform is their home. Offer them something that might be lacking in their current online home.
