What are good/easy career transitions leaving Payroll and HR? Anyone have experience leaving HR for another career path (such as writing or IT)?

I was put in to SAP when I joined my firm. I got SAP FI certified (associate), but have not done any configuring or implementation work at all (gov't consulting). I'm functional, and do use SAP (cont)

Is this merged role worth considering as someone young in the industry with more traditional intern and freelance copy experience.
