Ask about the rate of turnover in the department and why the current position is open.
Thanks! I’ll see if I can find a less direct way of asking this.
I think it mostly comes down to how well you get along with your manager and what the internal clients you support are like.
Good idea! I’ll try to see if I can find anything on LI.

I dpnt think there's any questions that will uncover this. Just vibe check and trust your gut
One thing I learned when I started my career in Silicon Valley, which can be very cutthroat, is to ask whether or not the office environment is a "positive" or "supportive" one. I know that sounds like those old therapy group session talk, but you can learn a lot from using that word, "positive." I would approach it by letting them know right off the bat that you're "a team player" and big believer in supporting office mates, both professionally and in a more personal sense. If you ask this, watch their facial expressional, body language, etc. Does "positive" make them nervous or unsure in their answer? They could stumble of course, or simply lie, but how they respond can be very telling. This isn't an insurance policy against toxic behavior, but subtle hints can be helpful. Good luck to you.
Thanks!! This is a great suggestion. Sometimes I ask them to use 3 words to describe their office culture (and see if they bring up those words or something similar themselves), or if it’s better to be more direct. My only concern is no one is gonna admit they don’t have a positive or supportive environment, so in a way it feels like it’s a leading question since we know they will say yes either way. (Though maybe how they say yes is the telling part….)
