What are some ways to ask for more than what's offered in the salary range? For example, I have a friend who got the company he works for to pay him an extra 15K because he had a very valuable certification under his belt. What other things work for something like this? Years of experience exceeding requirements, or proven results? Share an experience if you have one!

If you're that confident in your abilities, you could propose a trial period with performance-based salary reviews. But definitely don't just state arbitrary numbers without market data.. they're gonna call you out for that. And make sure you're doing this during the interviews and not negotiating via text/email. It's always frowned upon.

Proven results

Assuming the salary range is on the lower end...

1. Highlight how your skills solved a problem that increased sales and/or decreased costs
2. See 1.

Some certifications are key in some positions, but that's not an indication of performance or "profitable" contribution. I've worked with software devs who have a bunch of certs and some were better than others.

Past successes are useful if it demonstrates a valuable contribution.

I'm happy to talk in more detail if there's anyone who can reach out! Any help with the referral is greatly appreciated!

Lastly, if you could just reach out with advice about the process prep, I'd be very grateful as well!

Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.

When I negotiated my comp, all my discussions were around me being a junior and I only accepted my comp for that reason (would not have accepted if I was step above junior since it was low). Negotiations happened with HR, but my offer letter and documents never mention junior (but I have proof from HR saying I am a junior). How do I approach this with my boss as I’m not sure she’s aware I’m actually technically a junior? Revolving around asking for a move up + raise
