I applied with EY for a Senior Manager role I had my first stage interview with a senior manager, which I thought went well as I got the partner interview 2 weeks later, and said I'll be contact within 10 day HR. This did not happen so I chased up. Today I received feedback from HR stating that the senior manager, who would have been my peer, said I didn't have enough experience. But the partner who I would have been working under did like me.
Is this normal with EY recruitment
Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.
Just got a job at Deloitte M&A in Atlanta and am currently looking to buy a house. Would you advise I buy closer to Atlanta or the suburbs? I personally want to be in the suburbs but I hear the traffic situation is quite bad. Current consultants in Atlanta, how much time do you actually spend in the office vs remote vs client site? Would you advise I try and stay closer to the office?

Left LEK recently for pe and everyone that I knew wanted to do pe got an offer. We’re all doing UMM MM or LMM but I know people get MF interviews (I got some from TA for growth but wasn’t interested)
can i PM? incoming at LEK
Investment banking is the best way to get to PE. However, there are way more bankers than there are PE seats so it’s not so easy.
Lots of funds hire pre-MBA from consulting. Yes, MBB is the primary hunting ground, but T2 firms that have a good PE practice will also exit people to PE, such as LEK, EY-P. OW also exits people but only from Private Capital.
Whatever firm you go to in consulting, make sure there are PE exits and get into the PE group and do DD work for a year or so and that should be enough.
Reality is that IB/MBB is better and in that order.
It is still doable though, someone from my team (c.2-3 YoE) left for an MF PE and another to a leading Growth fund on my first day. But especially true for the specialism of the T2 e.g. life sci for L.E.K. where folks deal with larger PE deals more (I’m a generalist).
Have seen a few people do it

Very doable if you want to put in the time and effort, but most (80%) of people that do it go to MM funds, which can limit your exit opps a bit unless you are sure PE is a somewhat long-term play. On top of that, if you’re doing on-cycle, you’ll end up hanging around at work for months after getting your offer which can be tough to stay motivated and can also change your decision calculus to even leave in the first place since work tends to get more interesting the longer you stay.
I know a few LEK consultants who made that move. Don't know of any OW-ers who made that transition though
I work with a few people from OW at a MM firm currently. It’s definitely possible, but as others have said Mck and IB definitely increase your odds.
More dream than reality.
