Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

I'd say somewhere around $45,000. After taxes, you'll have $3k and change left in your monthly budget. If you budget every dime, you could probably pay rent, utilities, groceries and car insurance and still have some money left over each month. I know people are somehow managing to get by on significantly less, but I'd argue they're merely surviving, not living.
This is totally dependent on where you live. I don't think that you can just say 45k is impossible throughout the US because actually if you live in an inexpensive city you can still get by on that. But 45k in NYC or LA would be a death sentence.
All valid points and I don't disagree. OP just gave USA as the location, not a specific city, so I Googled average cost of a 2 BR apartment in the US and worked backward from there.
I live in DFW and $50K is barely cutting it here. I think something closer to $65K would be more reasonable. Though I'm not sure about more rural areas, they may have less expenses so can live off less. It really is dependent on where you're at. I'm sure folks in California couldn't live off $50K.

Depending on the states. It should be a six-figure income to afford a house in many states.
