Honestly, just a good place to work. I’ve worked at multiple bigger firms (big4 and others). WMP doesn’t have the same name brand (at least yet), but does right by its people, provides a far more flexible work/life balance than most firms, and it’s culture feels second to none in the industry. Comes down to what you prioritize in a job.
Is it going to be the same exit opps as bigger firms? Eh, maybe not. But in the last month I have been reached out to by all four big four plus ACN and other bigger name firms, so our brand within consulting is good enough to open the door, and I still personally see some cool opps come through.
Do we pay quite as well as some other big firms? No, not really. But overall comp package is somewhat competitive with our ESOP value, and honestly, the work/life balance is worth a lot.
Is it as prestigious as others? Nope. But the people I work with take a lot of pride in the quality of our work. We have a ton of ex-big 4/Accenture/etc...I know ex OW and ex MBB here. People come and stay for the culture.
Overall, it’s not perfect, but it’s a solid place to work and people generally seem happy.
And to your question about keeping people local, it’s not a stated approach in the same way that certain other firms do it.
I would ultimately say it’s built in a little bit to the flexibility I described above. If you’re someone who really doesn’t want to be traveling quite as much, they’ll work to try to get you on a local project. But that’s heavily dependent on project/role availability, and it can’t be guaranteed. Comes down to communicating your desires and setting boundaries from my experience.
The consultants there are hot - like dress really well and definitely take care of their bodies.
Who cares fellas. I work with a pack of drop-dead gorgeous women in my practice and many more in my office, they don't come to work to find boyfriends.
Great shop. Harder than Harvard to get into.
Hey D1. I’ve done some implementations but mainly focused on the process improvement side of things. In all honesty, less focused on the strategy and more so the business.
D just seems to have a lot of leading work in the space and pays really well. Just debating if I leave my good spot at WMP for that though.
Pretty cute overall
Sounds like my Slalom experience WM1, that's pretty cool. It's nice to know there are other organizations where I'd want to be.
I know a guy there who I think pretty highly of and he is very happy there. He says they all are as good as he is...so, I think they’re solid
I always got a very fratty vibe from them. Small sample size tho
Not at all fratty in our smaller offices. More so in the Chicago office for sure
EAST MONROE FOR LYYYYFE! Eff those west sliders.
west is best k.
I’ve been here for about a year- I love it. The people are fantastic, the work is not thrilling but you get a lot of leadership and development opportunities. I think if you are looking for a “fit” it would depend strongly on the office location you are considering.
Los Angeles- we’re about ~55 people compared to hundreds (~700?) at our headquarters in Chicago
