If you're not desperate to leave, test the waters. Say that you'd normally target 20-25% to jump, which is very common in consulting and this market.
Or, try to negotiate for M.
Loads of people recommended to shoot for M. But why do you want to level up while your TC is the same? If you reach M with the same TC, you’ll need another bump to SM for upgrading your TC. More stress & more responsibilities, but slower your pace in long term. Am I missing something? Just try to understand what’s the pros & cons here as I might be in the same situation soon

Just ask for what you want. This is the first convo I have with recruiters.
I need at least X to make a move. Doesnt matter what I currently make. I'm not moving for less than X.
This - if you low-ball yourself then it will just lead to frustration all around. Help them make the decision easy for you
Whoa you will make 190k for sc? Good for you!
Never move laterally unless it’s to a superior firm
Chief
Don’t over-index on what you currently make. Focus on what it would take to make you go to them, and tell them. Any other number really isn’t relevant.
So you make 150-160k as an SC? You’re not gonna get more than that as another SC, but you can prob negotiate a sign on to make up for that difference
Why not shoot for an M role somewhere at that point?
Chief
You’re gonna need to aim for an M role.
Geez how many YOE?
You need to be paid for your market value and the job you are interviewing for, not the pay you currently have, thus they do not need to know how much you are making right now but rather the (higher) number you would need to sign their offer letter.
Building a network is hard, don't move for less than 20% unless you are desperate/miserable.
Ask for the amount that you would switch for. Are they set on SC or could you come in at M? 190k at M should be within the range

If you don't tell them you're just wasting your time and theirs. When are you jp for M? Do you want and can you deliver at M level? If so push for M, otherwise stop interviewing at Big4.
Go for M, you will get a real jump
This market is crazy.
