Can someone please explain connections strategy? At my (creative ad) agency we only have strategy and digital/ social strategy. Trying to grasp what exactly a connections or comms strategist works on.

At KPMG, was going to go up for M last year but it would have been a tad early (only 2.5 years at senior) so I decided to push it back to this year. This year, after talking about my business case since last summer, I was now just told I won’t even be given the opportunity to go up for M at all, with very weak reasoning. What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). How does your firm measure utilization? I work for a small boutique that defines it as utilization = number of billable hours/2,080 and full bonus payout occurs at 80% plus.

Has anybody here applied to / served in the Navy Reserves (specifically for Intelligence)? Am very interested in serving the country, especially on issues related to US-China (and other "Great Power") relations and am not averse to deploying, but the process is incredibly opaque and would be curious to hear more about the "day-to-day" and the amount of strain that would be put on my civilian career (and how folks have handled it).
