Our senior creative leadership keep talking about winning Cannes Lions and D&AD pencils but none of them have actually won any since 2007 (that’s 14 years 😭 ) and between all three of them they’ve never won more than a couple of silvers, a couple of bronzes and a couple of in-books (that’s with a combined experience of over 60 years 😭). They have no clue 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭. Tell me something about your agency so that I can feel better about the hell-hole I find myself in🙏

Hi friends! I’m looking for resources to help me be successful in a “Functional Lead” role.

The role is in FinTech
I’m responsible for strategy, comms and key partnerships for a bank product. It reports through Customer Experience but touches product, Ops. marketing. It’s basically a Project Manager role but more nuanced.

Anyone out there in a role like this? Any books. videos or even best practices to share?

What does it mean if there’s a NEP at the firm who’s been there for a long time (20+ years), but never got promoted to EP? Never held leadership roles too. Does it usually mean EPs does not like the NEP enough to get promoted?

The NEP has a book of business, though no idea how much it brings in.

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. We’re starting to interview for my copywriter partner this week, but I don’t have any creative leadership above me (I’m also the only creative with agency experience at the company) so I’m nervous about being the only one looking at prospective partners.

Any tips for good questions to ask to feel out who is the best fit? I’ve worked with great and not so great writers in the past and it wasn’t always clear which would end up being the not so great based on their books.

Thoughts on calendar being double booked? What are the etiquettes to be followed. Often people double book and it feels like “ my meeting is more important that whatever you have booked time for in yours”. If both meetings are same urgency/importance - what’s the best approach ?
