What do you think about employees who only "act their wage" and refuse to go above and beyond? On one hand, I get it—you don’t want to do more than you’re paid to do, especially when raises and promotions feel out of reach. But on the other hand, it’s hard when that mindset creates extra pressure for the rest of the team. Is this a healthy form of boundary-setting, or are we losing a sense of teamwork?

Acting your wage can be a necessary boundary, especially in workplaces that take advantage of overachievers. It’s up to leadership to recognize effort and create systems where going above and beyond is both noticed and rewarded—otherwise, why would anyone go the extra mile?
For some reason employees and companies seem to have gotten mixed up in what and why work exists. I like what I do, but without the payment and benefit transaction, I wouldn’t be doing it. Everybody should act their wage, stop giving companies free money, it’s coming out of yours and everyone else's pockets.
