What do you with owners whose pets are morbidly overweight. I focus on the health issues, but it is quite a challenging subject. Lost a client over this.

I tell them that the pet is overweight and that if they want them to be healthy then they need to change that

Oh no! why did you lose the client? They were offended that you told them the pet was overweight?

I would say suggest to them to take their pet on more walks and give them other treats that aren't food

Ask them how much and how many times a day they feed their pet. Suggests that they cut the portions

There are weight loss supplements for animals. Do you research on which one could work for your patient

Regular exercise is a must. How much and often do they feed their pets a day? I think that's also an important matter to consider.

I'd be honest with them. Telling them that their pet is overweight would make them understand how serious this matter is. You can also ask them to give their pet some supplements.

it can be challenging to discuss the sensitive topic of pet obesity with clients, particularly when their pets' health is at risk.

It's important to approach the topic with empathy and understanding, while also emphasizing the health risks associated with pet obesity. Some potential strategies for addressing the issue with clients might include:

Focusing on the facts: Provide clients with information on the health risks associated with pet obesity, such as joint problems, diabetes, heart disease, and decreased lifespan. This can help them understand the severity of the issue and motivate them to take action.

Offering solutions: Provide clients with practical solutions for helping their pets lose weight, such as changes in diet, increased exercise, and regular check-ins with a veterinarian. Offering support and guidance can help clients feel more confident in their ability to help their pets.

Avoiding judgment: It's important to approach the issue with sensitivity and avoid making clients feel judged or criticized. Instead, focus on offering support and guidance in a positive, non-judgmental way.

Acknowledging the challenges: Recognize that weight loss can be a difficult and challenging process, and offer support and encouragement to help clients stay motivated and on track.

Ultimately, the goal is to help clients understand the importance of addressing their pets' weight issues and provide them with the support and resources they need to help their pets live healthy, happy lives. If a client chooses not to take action on this issue, it may be necessary to acknowledge their decision and part ways professionally.

The most important thing to do when dealing with owners whose pets are morbidly overweight is to be sympathetic. Acknowledge that it can be difficult to make healthy lifestyle changes for a pet and be supportive of their efforts. Offer them resources and advice on how to help their pet achieve a healthy weight, such as portion control, more exercise, and a balanced diet.

Speak to them about the possible harm that obesity can cause to their pets. Give them a professional advise. Sometimes owners are just too happy feeding their pets not realizing what harm over-eating may cause to their pets

I have a really great production coordinator that’s working under me and because of money issues, he hasn’t been given a raise or promotion in nearly two years. He works his ass off and everyone loves working with him. Does any know of any junior producer roles at agencies? Would love to help him out.
