Can’t speak to the 1Y vs 2Y but I’m going to do Kellogg’s part time MBA program. Seems like the least amount of opportunity cost for my position and could be for yours too.
Will you participate in recruitment? If so, I have a few questions for you
Just get a part-time MBA and use Deloitte's tuition assistance to help pay for it. There are also part-time online MBA programs available from top universities. Taking 2 years off for a full-time MBA is no longer worth it for most prospective students. Tuition costs are through the roof and the post-MBA job reports are way down percentage-wise from a few years ago. MBA jobs are becoming more and more scarce. I don't see that trend reversing at all in the coming years.
In short, don't quit your job to get an MBA unless you have a scholarship or employer sponsorship. Only about 50-75% percent of 2-year MBA students in Top 25 programs are getting their dream job these days. If you don't believe me, chack out the Employment Reports at the top schools which are on their websites. Also, subtract 10-20% from whatever percentage that you see becuse the career center's all follow the same community guidelines which allow them to subtract out and graduates who are in categories such as "No Information," "Postponing Job Search" "Own Venture" and"Continuing Education", etc. Most of the graduates put in those categories aspired for a post-graduate MBA job offer, but did not get one, especially those in the "No Information" category. Career Center's don't really want to know the "bad" news if they can avoid it and will defauly graduates to that category to make their numbers reported look better.
BEWARE!
For internationals, it is very tough to recruit in the 1Y program. Not sure how it is for US citizens
Not intl. I know 1y has no internship though so many recruiting paths are gone.
Coach
Do you meet the requirements for 1Y? You basically need to have already take the bulk of the core (econ, marketing, operations, stats) and gotten B or better in all. AND you need to have graduated <10 years ago.
1Y isn't just about age, it's about having a business background and not looking to make a career change that would require an internship.
You can reach out to Kellogg admissions (there is a form to fill out) asking them to assess your profile for 1Y.
