It's an opportunity for us to celebrate our Latin American heritage, and help our organizations learn more about our culture.
For me generally my Dominican Heritage is a year round celebration 😁, but having this opportunity to be front and center for a month in our leadership gives us more networking opportunities and the ability to promote the Latinx professionals.

For me, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the progress I’ve made and a reminder to be a builder of communities and opportunities for others.

Aside from an independence day reminder, It doesn't have any meaning to me really. I'm also not sure what the purpose/goal of it is.
To me, it’s an opportunity to learn more about my fellow Latin Americans and celebrate the our achievements in this country of immigrants and back in our country. There are so many things that we can share with each other. As an immigrant, I can reflect about the times that I’ve been uplifted, supported, and nurtured by my community and make plans to pay it forward.
Because I grew up in a rich community of different Latin American cultures, I see it as a celebration of that community we’ve built. I know some people think it’s meaningless because Latino and Hispanic encompass so much. My guess is that for them it hasn’t been much of a community - and with good reason sometimes (e.g. colorism and racism among Latinos). I feel fortunate that it has been for me and try to use this as an opportunity to learn more about other Latin American cultures.
I think you make a great point. I haven't been part of a community in the way you describe it and perhaps thats why I am apathetic about it.
For me, the highlight of this month is eating ‘chiles en nogada’ which is a Mexican dish commemorating our independence. If you’ve never tried this, find yourself a Mexican tia asap!!!
Me.
I don’t consider myself Hispanic as a first generation Brazilian-American, and many others don’t either, but I will say that I use the time to learn about other Latin American countries.
