It means being a teacher with conservative values. It's not particularly easy, considering that the policymakers are far left. The profession as a whole expects you to fall in line with the cultural trends. You absolutely will get blowback if you openly voice your politics. But, we are necessary to the profession, whether the leftists realize it or not. We are often the only thing anchoring education in reality.
Even in conservative areas, it can be hard because there are so many policies that don't work. They only exist because of an agenda. If you say anything, the response is, "It'll be ok." Cause, while there are many liberals, there's also many who have no idea what's going on.
