What does it mean when people say “is that correct directionally” or “I’m aligned directionally”?

I agree with the idea, not the specifics

Agreed. Or you can think of it as you are headed in the right direction but there is more work to be done.

Depends on the context. Directionally correct means it's not perfect, but good enough to get the message across. Whether or not that is sufficient will depend on the situation, client, etc.

more corporate BS speak.

The people talking about diagonal or directional alignment also don’t know what they’re talking about.

It’s just BS talk to fill gaps between sentences.

On the right path but you need to refine and get to the so what

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?

Books you would recommend for consulting or personal development?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
