What finance books do you recommend for business? I’ve read Profit First (and the salon variation). I started Worth Every Penny but had to return it before I finished. I think I might be looking for validation to raise prices but in any case…any recommendations?

A great book for business is an old one, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, by Edwin Lefevre. It's a century old, but it deals mostly with the psychology of the stock market and how humans operate in business, so in that sense it's timeless. A lot of things have changed, but human nature is still the same.

Thank you! I listened to The Psychology of Money and it had similar undertones. I’ll check it out.

A classic and definitely one I reference often for personal finances

I really enjoyed this e-book "Breaking the Time Barrier", it helped me stop thinking about exchanging time for money and thinking about my offers in a new way.

You can check it out here for free 🥳: https://www.freshbooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/breaking-the-time-barrier.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoo0L9m2fia3cjppqqzMQ5fy3qFBc5qwK2MMsEcqa5Bsr_zOKopG)

Oooh this maybe exactly what I need. Thank you!

the way i set my prices is based on how busy i want to be

if i want to work more, quote cheaper

if i want to work less, quote higher

Makes sense.

Any 🐠 attending the Pilgrimage Festival in Nashville this weekend?

Just out of curiosity, have you ever started a new job and thought what the hell am I getting myself into?!?
If it was the wrong fit how long did you grin and bear it? 6 months / 1 year / longer?
Did it get better with time or worse? (For instance just a case of lack of know-how)
If you left did you find securing a new job difficult due to only being there for so little time?

So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. When ever I try to build a strategy, they (founders) swamp me with blablabla stories and not a single action plan. Is this the usual at startups? Also,no real company culture. At all. No HR. I am reaaaally struggling to get a sense of belonging here. What should I expect?? Tia

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.

Hey guys, so I want to start a "thing" where I am the middle person who connect candidates to the companies for hire. I do not want to provide contracts as I will not provide benefits. How would I monetize this? and how would I get the companies on board?

I have a business idea in the VR/AR space utilizing AI. However, I lack skill sets to evaluate viability or to create an MVP. Neither do I have a network to tap into.

My plan is taking classes to deepen my knowledge while joining and actively participating in communities to find collaborators.

Does this approach make sense or do you recommend other approaches? If it makes sense, do you have any recommendations for classes or communities?

Look forward to hearing your experiences and wisdom!
