It’s time for me to move on from my back office/CBS job at EY. I’ve been able to get through to recruiter and hiring manager screening round with FAANG employers and some tech companies but never beyond that. How can I differentiate myself when I’m probably also up against our client facing colleagues in consulting. I have about 12 years experience (7 at EY doing the same thing).

Depends on the level - I interviewed for a M level back in the day, and was interviewed by a SC (about to be promoted to M), two Ms, a SM, and 2 PPMDs
Know the group and alignment you are joining. I had a technical domain specialization which was my strength, and that is what D was hiring me for. I prepared for my case study where I was expecting a case relating to that. The actual case study was relevant and interestingly the M who ran the interview was a backfill for the original M who couldn’t attend. This guy didn’t know the domain area but quizzed me on the logic, structure and approach. Plus he had a cheer sheet to validate my responses. My interviews with the PPMDs were great, though I was nervous. One of them was renowned for his expertise in a domain, and I was very careful not to bluff on anything. When I didn’t know an answer, I told him I didn’t but followed with my assumption based on xyz. My advice: prepare for the expertise you claim to know, brush up on your past projects you want to talk about especially the impact, and be your honest self. They are also judging if you can be deemed a trustworthy consultant and your body language will speak to that. Also, you’ll hear all sorts of opinions about D is good/bad compared to XYZ, but as you may be aware all firms have their good and bad. In my experience D was by far the best I got to work with compared to other B4/ACN. There are good and not so good people everywhere, but the intellect level at D was higher than the other B4/A. Good luck.
SCs don't do interviews. M and above. Final rounds I believe will be SM or partner, or you might/might not encounter them earlier I think.
