Interesting view - maybe the op had scholarship or already paid loans. I was in state and paid my loans off within two years.
I didn't have to pay any fees for my bachelors or masters. Got through my bachelors with a scholarship and masters tuition was waived because I helped professors on their PhD thesis and papers. So K1 getting back to your point, my parents didn't have to pay for my schooling. Yes that certainly was nice! @A2 - I have always been in the Bay Area so went to meet ups and networked with a lot of people before I got onboard with the current start up I am working with
