What is the minimum amount of time that I should stay in a role before switching agencies?

I have been a fed for two years. I enjoy my work but I already feel I’ve outgrown the role. I would like to move agencies soonish, but I received advice from a mentor (who has never worked in government FWIW) that I should not take a new job for at least another three years because a shorter stint would not look good on my resume. Thoughts?

Honestly, with everything going on now is a good time to move to another agency if you’re not happy at your current one. I don’t think anyone is going to think twice about people making moves during this administration.

I recently interviewed with Natwest and I got confirmation that they wanted to offer a role. Salary negotiations were started. However, now I got an email from the hiring manager that hiring for my role has been paused due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. He expects to resume the hiring for the role in Q1 '23 and would resume the process then. So is it the end? Honestly, I don't expect him to come back. But what do you think?

How does this Amazon offer look for an L5 non-tech PM role in Seattle? I’m coming in with 2 YOE as a startup PM. No MBA.

It was extended before the recent announcement that TCs are going up but I don’t know if I’d be impacted regardless.

Hi Fishes,

I applied to one of the roles and after initial screening I happened to see in the website that there are no suitable openings for my profile.

I heard that the cool off period is six months. Does that apply to my situation because I didn't attend any interview.

Can I use referals to apply before 6 months? Or should I wait for 6 more months?

Thanks for your help.

I'm 32 and looking to make a career change. Previously I've been in sales, sales QA and some analyst position. I want to transition into learning programming and decided the best roadmap for me would be to learn Salesforce, land an entry level admin job and develop my skills over time to transition into programming.

How realistic is it to go from no computer science degree, to getting Salesforce certs and an admin role?

Hello, I recently was reached out to by an in-house recruiter at a similar but slightly different company than the one I currently work for. The recruiter provided a base range and an OTE range. The lower end of that range is what I am currently making. The higher end of that range is almost 200k more than my current comp. The role is almost identical. I wasn’t looking to move, but that higher end range would set my family up very nicely for our goals. But I am happy at my current company. Help?

I graduated from a regional law school in 2018 and clerked for 2 years before moving into a GS-13 agency counsel role in DC back in October 2020.
