Istikhara to access Allah's guidance and mercy
A great reminder A1

1. Will I learn
2. How is leadership
3. How is the team
4. Future growth - how long could I stay here
5. Take a risk - it’s probably worth it
I like these, thanks PM1
These will all have different criteria:
For projects: when I was at MBB, I was taught/recommended to always solve for people first e.g., sponsors, the team and clients. An interesting topic with bad people will make for a bad experience, whereas the reverse can still lead to good and memorable experiences
For jobs: similar concept, but your day-to-day colleagues will impact your work-life if not aligned. In addition, assess whether the opportunity progresses you in your career or not - it’s not always a straight line, but as long as you’re moving forward/up, then your golden. Compensation is also important since salary progression is slower on industry than consulting
Life decisions: Namaz and istikhara. Go with what your heart/gut/preferred organ tells you
I realize this is general advice, but without knowing your personal situation, I can’t really give any more specific advice. You really need to think about what is important to you, and the order of priority. Feel free to DM if you’d like to chat more
Probably unpopular view but if you were to solve for a single variable then maximize $, whatever is feasible to your circumstances (family, faith, moral compass, etc.)
Overly simplistic explanation is
1. More $ generally means challenging work (otherwise anyone can do it)
2. Challenging work makes you learn and generally means smart people around you - so improved network.
3. More learning and stronger network means better future opportunities
How to actually make these decisions is just simple probability to calculate expected returns. Likelihood of success * returns.
