Wedding DJ or event photographer were fallbacks if I had to change industries, but obviously with covid-19 those fallbacks are gone and won’t be returning any time soon!

I don’t know and it’s scary

I always wanted to work in film/TV but didn’t want to live in LA or go to film school and be broke for 20 years, etc. This was supposed to be my way of getting to the top and jumping over at an exec level...but I can’t fake my interest in advertising for that long. I also won’t be able to climb the ladder here if it’s something I don’t even care about that much :/

Any tips for someone who discounts good feedback but heavily focuses on the opportunities to improve? So much that I have a fear of getting fired despite receiving overall good feedback. I started a new job earlier this year. The function of the role and industry is new to me. My manager told me he generally has higher expectations than the rest of the organization. Originally, I viewed this as a great learning opportunity but can't help to think I'm not cut out for this and fear the worst.

Curious to hear thoughts and stories about growing within a firm when you’re in a niche area. I am in a specialty area which although unique will never be as large as many other practices. I enjoy what I do but I don’t see doing it for the rest of my career. How do you pivot into a “bigger” or different role? Would love to hear about your experiences.

Submitted a resume to a recruiter for a job last Monday. They called me within 2 hours and asked to schedule a phone call. The call went well, and they sent me all the necessary paperwork they need me to sign. I signed it within the hour and sent them an email saying I’m looking forward to working with them. Haven’t heard anything back since then. Is that weird? Does the recruiter actually think I am a good fit for the role? She sent me the name of the company and everything.

I wanted to flag so others can know, I live in mcol and I just received an offer for 120k base and a 15k signing bonus. I have three years of experience. I’m completely burnt out from work and I’m considering taking a break until the end of the year or so. The challenge I’m having is this deep rooted anxiety of having a “gap” on my resume. Is that something that’s still a red flag to hiring managers or am I overthinking it? If you’ve done this, I’d be so curious to hear your thoughts! I know I’m in a privileged position to be able to consider this, I’ve found this bowl to be so supportive and helpful so any thoughts are welcome 🙏

In the past year, I doubled my salary, achieved a lot of my short term goals (non-financial), but I've understandably been pretty exhausted. I know it shouldn't matter but I ran into my toxic ex-boyfriend's best friends (from 5 years ago), and boy it felt nice to see their faces in shock when they asked me what had been new 😅 petty, but reminded me of how far I had come since then and felt good to say aloud to them

Hi guys, I am due to start working at EY soon within audit. I will be commuting to the office by train when in the Birmingham office. This will be from Leicester. Usually if a commute is about 1.5 hours+, Mazars authorises hotels. Is there a similar policy at EY? When not in the office I would prefer to drive to clients, not sure if me being in Leicester affects whether they will tell me to suck up an extended commute? Would a mileage claim be from the office to the client? Thanks!
