what is your take on working for a company that is mature with now a huge growth outlook? something like verizon who isn't planning for major growth in the stock and tends to offer over the top dividends

Not in tax, and not answering your question but I just worked on a project for Verizon and was at their headquarters in Lake Mary and Basking Ridge a few times and I loved their work culture. Seemed like a very good place to work for those who want a slower work-life. They’re very adverse to large change because they know they aren’t going anywhere and are mature. I was considering them as an option later in my career when I want to transition to industry.

Thanks for the comment. I was using Verizon as just an example but that is good to hear they have a good culture!

Not sure I would pick a company based on stock valuation. Growth in a company and growth in stock price don’t necessarily correlate

Dividends are a complex matter and are not always directly tied to individual investors’ interests. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend focusing solely on the dividend value when evaluating a company. What you see isn’t always what you get, and a higher dividend doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll achieve the returns or outcomes you expect or the companies can show and hide whatever they want to attract intelligent people like tax managers :)

Thanks I was mostly trying to find a company that is large but without a means to become the next Apple, etc.

I want to buy a large TV for Cyber Monday but have always been lower income. I would feel bad having family over with an expensive TV. I don't really need it. Our house is still very much low budget. I haven't made any real upgrades since getting a new job.

Is this a weird rationalization or logical? I am kind of torn so I considered just using that money for a vacation and maybe buying a TV next year... though I'll likely do this again at that time.

I recently sign a lease. The apartment will put my security deposit into an interest-bearing account and requires me to fill out a form W9. Reading the independence brochure, looks like it does not specify something related to this scenario but just wanted to confirm . TIA!
