Id take 300 base at 1700 hours
I’d die for 300k base
300 base and just fund your own 401k with the difference…
Def firm with these facts. The remote scenario, reasonable billable requirement and share in equity are all winning factors IMO. The 3 day in office thing for the in house gig could easily evaporate. And the in house climate could easily result in you being near the equivalent of 1700 billables. If I took the in house paycut, I’d require more remote flexibility and 100% working 9-5 or 6 most of the time. This doesn’t sound like that at all.
Good luck with the next role, whichever you pick. In this environment, having options like these from which to choose is a great problem to have.
I'm in-house, and it's the best...but damn, that's a BIG dollar difference.
If family time matters, I'd go in house.
In my eyes, a firm that's telling you in advance that night work is expected and weekend work is possible is laying it out there. The in house position sounds like you'll be busy, but most people I know who are in house have much better work-life actual balance.
Any bonus for the firm?
Firm under these circumstances.
Why do you think the comp. ceiling would be higher?
Realistic potential for leadership positions which would come with increase base, bonus, and equity.
Firm for sure
If the firm is telling the truth I really don’t think there should even be a question. Firm for sure.
I’ve met a bunch of in house folks who’ve said their move in house resulted in significantly more work (than a relatively chill biglaw gig) or essentially the same work (as a pretty intense biglaw gig).
If you genuinely only have to work some nights and not much weekend work, this sounds like a dream. Really just depends on how close to reality the pitch is.
Firm for sure
There’s a clear winner there.
For me, in-house but it depends on what you value. How many YOE?
Firm 100%. It’s remote + higher pay and less work. 300k base for 1700 hours is a dream for many.
Firm!
