McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Currently at top 10 pharma exited from tier 2 consulting.
Big pharma generally won’t have significant upsides unless you led the launch of a blockbuster drug. Even then will you be part of the red tape and politics that is big pharma. Exits are usually for lifestyle changes from consulting with possible higher pay initially, but you will reach your cap faster (90-95% will cap at associate director/dir level). Growing startups in biotech as a product manager will be a better choice depending on your risk tolerance as m&a will slowly increase following recent financial downturns.
“Leading the launch” is you being part of the product management at a big pharma (generally done at levels above director) that accounts for the FDA regulatory approval process and marketing for that new drug (albeit they’re separate work streams). If you’re able to get your hands on any of that process, you’re likely going to be recognized by the CEO and you’d be awarded with promotions rather than big bonuses. Bonuses are completely discretionary based upon your reporting supervisor from my experience.
Marketing aka owning a P&L for a drug/franchise preferably with US/in-market focus (vs global marketing roles). Politics factor heavily into your upward trajectory for these roles however
