With 6 yoe I was making $160k TC in a mcol city. Industry is important though. Consulting and tech will pay more than healthcare and government.
In my own experience in, you could be making $100k+, quite easily depending on your region, your area of practice, and the types of organizations you’re willing to work for. Adding in an agile cert (SAFe, CSM, PSM, etc) makes it that much easier to get interviews by meeting the base qualifications.
Plus, it never hurts to interview and always look for opportunities in the PM space, as it’s helpful to keep a pulse on all of the above items.
Hi! I was just in this boat. PMP and YOE as well. 100k is a good base, depending on your life stage (kids, married, etc) you can decide if money or perks/work life balance is more important and go from there.
PMP and CSM with similar YOE. I recently went contract with local government. I’m in Tech and I’m at $140k (which I feel in a different industry would net more). I have amazing WLB. I think it’s a good idea to see what’s out there. Talking (interviewing) doesn’t necessarily hurt anything. You’re gathering data. Good luck!
