I built a spreadsheet that pulls in different college basketball efficiency metrics to predict which team in a given matchup is most likely to cover the spread. So far this season I’ve covered 71% of all games and made $32k.
Amazing. Subscribed as well.
I just made a quarantine plan spreadsheet. Inventoried everything in my pantry and freezer into components and then, assuming a 28 day quarantine, rationed out meal prep using the ‘components.’ For example, dinner on Day 14 is 1 package instant mashed potatoes and 1 pkg frozen pulled pork.. etc. Feeding a household of 6
You don’t have a bunker full of water and MREs? Friggin casual.
Created an excel sheet with a macro that looks like it generates a report but actually unmutes your computer, turns your volume up to 100, uses text to speech to yell at you to get back to work, and then shuts your computer down.
10/10 solid thing to send around the project team
My dinner party spreadsheet that had a full list of ingredients and types of alcohol and linked seasonal ingredients to suitable beverage matches.
Last year I had a spartan race season pass. My most proud spreadsheet tracked the total cost of travel for each race and let me know if the price dipped below a certain price point. Based off scrapped data each day, it checked if it was best to fly out Friday night vs Saturday morning, price of hotels, and price of car rental.
What'd you use to do the scraping?
When I was pregnant and still frequently traveling I tracked my radiation exposure. Embedded formulas that automatically calculated exposure based on flight duration and cruising altitude and it told me what % of total recommended exposure I was at.
This might be the saddest q&a I’ve ever seen.
Love you too
I’ve seen a colleague with a spreadsheet he’s maintained for 25 years. Has a list of every flight he’s every taken. He’s refined it now to Pivot the number of times he’s visited a particular airport, hotel, etc.
One for fantasy basketball. Pulled everything I wanted and then gave me my list of player to plug into my optimization script.
I would love to see this lol

Built a spreadsheet that builds a macronutrient / calorie specific diet based on gender, age, weight, body fat% and goals - pretty helpful when getting in shape for holidays 🏝
Haha this is my baby and isn’t going anywhere
For the more complex non-budgeting spreadsheets, where did you build the hard skills to do these? Were there any specific experiences from jobs, projects, deliverables, service lines, or courses you feel you drew on to build these?

Title leaves something to be desired but this guy worked on the original versions of Excel
Built a tracker for my house expenses with my roommates. Worked like a charm in tracking all the money flow. Was easier to track when the lease ended and people owed money.
Built a spreadsheet to track all my travel, points, miles, status, etc.
Made it easy to make sure stays posted, correct points/miles hit my account, calculate what kind of mileage run I might need, how much I'd have to whore myself out to hit lifetime status, etc. Also had the added benefit of helping me track international destinations that I need to disclose on certain background checks.
Tried to digitize it at one point by building an application on ServiceNow, but gave up when I remember how much I suck at development.
I did that with my personal budget spreadsheet. Got halfway done and realized it wasn't worth it at all
Did this years ago--my sister is a federal employee and when she became a fed, she was pretty much financially illiterate and had no clue what she could project for retirement income, so I put together a workbook that tracked the fed payscales, pension /TSP growth and projections, and social security projections.
I set it up so that she would just enter her starting point on the fed payscale, her TSP contribution rate, and then hit a button when she got a promo that would update all the projections.
