Yes! I have noticed the exact same thing. I work, tech, strategy, and process in a specific capability and find strategy people work the longest basically just wasting time.
So true! Glad it isn't just me.
Deloitte focuses so much on decks. I am internal and 80% of my time is spent on decks. I work in analytics and hardly get to work on anything because I am too busy changing colors on a graph or trying to fit months of research on one slide and dumb it down
No where yet, on the hunt lol
Agree
I would say it’s because of different angles.
I mean if that's what keeps them up at night, I feel bad for them
While I haven't touched a deck in my time as an analytics consultant, I see a lot of wasted time in tech projects. Usually comes down to poorly defined requirements which means endless code tweaks or even complete overhauls. Another thing is skill gap... A considerable amount time is spent on Google to solve often basic problems.
Industry cares way less about decks and doing actual work
I present all day to sr leadership. No problem spending them on a deck or presentations but when you have to continuously dumb bullets and graphs down, they end up meaning very little. Also, no sense doing 60 versions of a deck, I could see up to 10 being acceptable.
Anyway going to amazon where there are no decks just memos
Congrats!
Exactly....
To play devils advocate: all of your work is completely meaningless if you can’t properly and persuasively communicate it to the right people - which is something you’ll eventually have to do at all levels.
So yes, small formatting tweaks are often a waste of time. But I completely disagree that putting thought to proper structure and improved design are; and I’d bet your definition of “perfectly fine” might not actually pass the sniff test for some key stakeholder audiences.
You don't know industry then
