Same. PMs seems to have a low ceiling and little room to advance past a director role and for some reason is made to stay within some articifical box. Let me know if you figure a way out.

Even the Directors role comes from years of being a SPM or the last SPM got fired or quit. So they promoted a SPM with Director title but still making SPM money. Allot of politics or favoritism with current boss. Or they bring in an outside Director & leave SPM in place.

I was there. I went to the client side. Loved & supported. Agencies after a while they get numb. How are your Account teams.
Totally understand what you mean. Us PMs are made to try and make things better for our teammates - that’s job. Yet, we are told no in the regular. I’ve been lucky to have a few (3 to be exact) in 25 years that have supported me. But thankfully a woman I worked with 25 years ago remembered me and brought me in to her new agency where I am now leading the charge to have a say in the who and the how. I’ve never felt more seen and accepted. Stick with it, look for different places outside the large agencies, you never know what may be around the corner.
