What’s a piece of engineering advice you followed for years before realizing it didn’t always apply? I’ve found that a lot of “best practices” make sense until the context changes.

No one size fits all solutions

Measure twice cut once. Obviously you need to pay attention to the details but sometimes being too bogged down prevents you from delivering a sufficient product on time.
