It took me about a year to lose interest in my job. At first, I loved the challenge of it and the satisfaction I got from completing tasks. But as time went on, I found myself less and less engaged. Eventually, I just stopped caring and stopped putting in the effort.

It took me about two years to lose interest in my job. It started with a feeling of stagnation; I wasn't learning anything new and I wasn't being challenged. Then, slowly but surely, I stopped enjoying going to work. The people I worked with were nice, but I just didn't feel like myself anymore.

I have not lost interest in my work, but I have certainly lost some of the excitement. I've gotten used to all the tasks I do, I don't feel like anything is challenging anymore and I just do my job and go. Although I still like what I do

About 2 years in and I left after 4. It was too much of the same every day. Found a job with a lot more variety and I am so much happier for it.

Follow up email?

Quick rundown...

Had an Engineering interview Thursday and it went well. Was told the owner was out of town and they would be in touch to schedule the next interview with the management team. Got the email yesterday about scheduling the next interview, they asked my availability for this week. I replied back about 90 minutes later.

Fast forward to today, Wednesday, and I haven't heard anything back. I called twice to follow up, but went to VM. Do I send another email?

Have I just had bad luck with the companies I've been at or is it like this everywhere? I've had 7 managers in my 4 years of experience, 3 in one year at my first position (which is why I left) and now 4 at the 2nd company in 3 years. There has been a mix of people leaving and people getting fired but the instability feels extreme.

I was recently promoted to a new position at my company. I'm so excited to be taking on this new challenge, but it's not going as well as I had hoped.

I've been given a lot of responsibilities, which is great. But I don't feel like any of them are being prioritized or delegated appropriately. I'm getting a lot of pressure from my manager, who is quite demanding and doesn't seem to understand that I need time to get things done and learn new skills.

What is the most useful technical or soft skills for any mechanical engineer to have where you work? I’m curious to know what really matters for everyone and what makes a big impact on the team and business.

Specifics if you can; CAD tools, simulation, CAD speed or proficiency, industry or standards knowledge, GD&T, certifications, Microsoft Excel, presentation skills, technical writing, project management, self organization, great communication, teaching ability, relationship building, etc.

Fellow students, what kind of jobs do you have now? I recently got promoted to project engineer and looking back on how much I worried about grades it all seems so silly now
