I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was

Because I love what I do and I know that I’m good at it. People need honest, sound financial advice. I also love the freedom my career gives me and flexibility to be a great mom. I was a single mom since 2009 and I knew this was the key to me being able to provide for my son.

I’m the son of immigrant parents. My Parents come here from a communist country where both sides of my family were killed or thrown in jail. They arrived here with 5 dollars in their pocket and they busted their ass to provide a life us. I have no excuse!!! Hard work, dedication, pride and the fear of failure drives me.

Parents. They were/are very successful and unless I work even harder than them I will not be the first generation in my family of immigrants not more successful than their parents. I want to do well for myself (without their help) and gain their approval.

My parents got hammered in 08, Lost the house. Went through other financial challenges that they wouldn’t have if they had a guide. I want to make sure other people are good and don’t go through the same struggle. Money is awesome, but I want to earn to help pay bills, I want to donate to charity, also use the money to buy real estate

My faith in GOD and gratitude for my awesome parents who both died many years ago. Their spirit run strong within me on a daily basis.

I’ll never outperform my father. It’s near impossible as an FA. So...I do what I can....

@finacial advisor 2 why do you say that?

Sounds arrogant but money. Becoming a top producer means I can provide and live the life I dreamed of. In return that hopefully means whatever I’m making from clients I can reduce their risk and grow their money as well. It’s a win win to me, I want to grow as I want my clients to grow from my choices.

Making a positive difference in the lives of the people I help. I have a tremendous passion for helping people. It's what I look forward to every morning. I look at it like this: if you had a cure for cancer, you'd want to scream it to the world. Some would listen, others wouldn't. I feel like I have a cure for their financial cancer and want to help them save themselves.

like

Fear and a since of purpose. I want to make life better for my wife and I and I do not want to ever go back to my former career. The longer I am in this business the more positive feedback I receive from clients: thanking me for what they/we have created- a path to a comfortable retirement, college for the children etc

Money and power. But mostly the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want.

I want to be in the On Wall Street 40 under 40

I feel like an idiot. For the past 3 years (26yo now) I have been electing the traditional 401k instead of Roth. I get 25% taken out pretax each paycheck. Given that I’m more likely to have a higher salary (currently 100k now) and therefore be in a higher tax bracket by the time I retire, shouldn’t I have elected Roth this entire time? 😩

Everyone has a different perspective on this but would love to hear yours. Someone has debt ranging say 4-5% interest rates. Do you attack debt more then investing to move towards a debt free life or do you go after investments since they return historically above that then paying down closer towards retirement. I know the latter looks better on paper but what about the psychological factors of being debt free and the guaranteed return on interest savings.
