What’s everyone using to manage cases (that isn’t a case management software)? I’m in a new role working with 4-6 partners with work flying at me from all directions. I want to stay ahead of the tasks, keep up with work, etc. I’ve seen some whiteboards used with magnets and dry erase notes- in project management roles. I’ve also seen excel used for this. I’ve only ever made lists and kept up with them, but I’ve never from 5-6 partners. Thoughts? 🫠

I'm currently working for a startup that has been unable to pay us for 2ish months while they are trying to secure investor funding. They said they will back pay us and (we're working much fewer hours) and they were reaching into their personal savings for months before and never took a salary. What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

I just got my client divorced from a truly horrible person who abused her and her children and she got everything she wanted and the kids are doing great and only one hasn't been successfully discharged from therapy and I'm just so proud of her and feel so lucky that I got to do a little to help her along the way

My client wants both parties to list assets & liabilities as an exhibit to their prenup without values, but waive the right to know the actual valuation of those in the prenup itself. My initial thought is this is a terrible idea & would probably make the prenup easily voidable since a main requirement for a prenup is for both to understand the nature and value of the other’s assets. Small firm (my boss, me, & a paralegal). After a hearing I did not handle, boss intended to seek review of the ruling in its entirety. What was communicated to me by paralegal was to seek review of a portion.

Seeking review is now time-barred. Boss is not upset, but this is 1 case & 1 problem. There are other cases & other stories.
