I’ve always been curious about what a Product Owner does in consulting - what product would you be owning?
Interesting. Haven’t seen that too often given the amount of decision-making authority the PO has on the output of the final product, to put that in the hands of a consultant.
So would you want to go into consulting within product management or are you looking to work full time for a company as a Sr. Product Owner? Sorry, it wasn't too clear in the initial message unless I'm reading it wrong!
No worries. I want to go back into consulting within product management. First step is a Sr. PO and then my plan is Product Management. I started my career at in consulting and got out do to traveling and starting a family.
Moving back into consulting i have more flexibility in learning about different industries without needed to jump from company to company.
I could see $120-$150K in the Sr Product Owner role. What were you thinking?
I was thinking roughly the same thing. Between 125-135 base.
I think you might make more with a company rather than freelancing or consulting if that's what you're going for but it depends on your portfolio/resume
lol that sounds miserable...my personal opinion is to start the biz dev process, look for clients etc before you make the jump. I made a similar switch, but I courted clients beforehand, secured a few calls and signed on people before I left. I felt a bit more comfortable making the jump that way and I also got a good pipeline going to see myself through the following few months. Not impossible, but there is grind involved...I prefer it though because at least I'm doing it for myself
