Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

I wouldn't say it was just this one thing, but I'd say it was consistently taking ownership of feedback sessions. I made it a point to not just receive feedback but to actively seek it out and then implement changes based on that feedback.
One habit that helped me level up was seeking out responsibilities beyond my role. Even in junior positions, I acted like a CD sometimes pitching ideas, mentoring, and thinking strategically. Also, networking with other CDs gave me insight into the role. You’ve got this, just start moving like a CD now!
Make your intentions known. Ideally the people around you that can help will help and you can make a more specific path within your current company. Take on projects or tasks that will help you translate skills into that CD title. Getting into the leadership mindset was big for me.
Honestly networking and getting to know others throughout my career has been one of the biggest things that has helped me and impacted my career in a positive way. You never know how someone you met now can have an impact later down the road.
