I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Ours is probably around the same. It does feel shorter. I think 3-5 used to mean someone was mid-career there. Now it means someone stayed longer than average.
Rising Star
Mine is even worse, it is around 1-3 yrs, we celebrated a 3rd anniversary of someone from the team, and they have been the oldest on the team.
Mine is also 1–3 years, sadly. We have so much turnover here, and management acts like they don't know why. When you don't pay people what they deserve, they are going to jump ship. It is really as simple as that.

It’s 5-6 years on my team! My company has high turnover over but my team is one that stay together since we work well and good wlb.

Three to five years feels common now. Shorter tenure can mean growth and mobility, but it can also signal retention issues. I would look at why people leave more than the number itself.
