What’s the best way to set yourself up for an in house position down the road? For example, a litigating role or a transactional role? I have two years litigating experience (insurance defense) & considering a business litigation role but wonder if that will enable me to go in house down the road with more experience.

Corporate/Regulatory/Transactional. ID is probably the worst specialty to have unless you are trying to go to a carrier.

It's really hard to get an in-house lit role. It's done, obviously, but the competition is fierce.

I’ve learned that us commercial lit attys are a dime a dozen

100% transactional. I’d make the switch now, it will get more difficult with time. It’s a hard switch to make, but you’re still early in your career.

As a 6 year I’ve hit the wall for switching i think. Even recruiters roll their eyes when I say I’d like a transactional role lol

A transactional role

like

You can take a cut in years and go in as a 2nd year for a new transactional practice in biglaw

Do transaction work (both contracting and M&A). And adopt this frame: it’s not a legal problem. It’s a business problem with legal implications.

Hi Fishes, I am really interested in product management and want to switch my role from risk analyst in a product owner/product manager role.
How difficult it is to do in amex? Its been half a year since I joined amex and I am planning to talk to manager after completing one year.

Can someone please suggest me if this kind of switch is possible? And how should one go about it

Any advice would be helpful

How good is Program management role as compared to Product owner role? I have an opportunity to pick either of the two. Your thoughts?
a. In terms of growth in Amex ? (Currently I’m Band 30, asst manager )
b. In terms of exit opportunities down the line

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. TIA!
