High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. Today, I showed a TED Talk about the Guatemalan genocide. We were discussing the role of forensic anthropologists. It made such an impact on my students. I teach in a super red state and district and often my students do not see the pain of our Central American neighbors and why they seek asylum here. I tied their plight to my mom’s post-WWII and asked them why she was welcomed by our current immigrants are not. It was so powerful. One of my LatinoX students told me thank you for today’s lesson.

After some time in consulting I have realized that this isn’t that career for me. What would be some advice you would give a young person looking to explore other careers/industries? (Don’t want to quit a good consulting job bc I don’t like it)

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?
