I have been in that position....where I was suddenly moved to self contained adaptive ed class. First I looked at their IEP. Then I gave my students a Brigance test to see where their strengths and weaknesses were.
My TEKS had to be on grade level, but I would go down to where that student is in objectives. What does this student need to know before he can achieve that grade level TEK?
We had a digital curriculum, but some students did better with paper and pencil. Use whatever you can find. I used Super Teacher Worksheets and I printed from the digital curriculum. Good Luck! It's a lot of work, but it is very rewarding.
😣. I have fallen in love with ULS & N2Y online curriculum. I may changing school districts this year & I forgot to ask what curriculum they use in the interview. If they don’t have ULS…
I teach resource science and math. I too follow IEPs, but also diploma bound curriculum. I have put together my own classes as I am the only special Ed science teacher and I get the lowest students for pre- algebra. My students prefer paper pencil and frankly so do I for them . I get much more work out of the with paper pencil.
Google calendar. As a science teacher I would recommend meeting with the core teacher and narrowing down the scope of the course, if you haven't already, to just the core essentials and experiences.
EDIT: I’m asking about actual plan books…not curriculum…sorry for the confusion!
I’m not sure if I should use an app, actual plan book, something I print off and write on, etc
Find something that fits your situation. I developed my own spreadsheet using excel.
I find that paper/pencil works well and then I use a different colored pen if I decided to make last minute changes so I can go back and hopefully follow my train of thought for the next year.
Good luck and enjoy!!!!!
