$100k. Good rating and a good year for my firm. Wife found a way to spend it.
I am only in a AR clerk so a dollar is the most I’ve ever gotten at the company. I’m at now. This company only gives 0 to 3% if you’re lucky a year.
For me it was when I first started at Grant Thornton 5 years ago. Started as an associate 1 making 63k year, at the annual review there was a market adjustment & went to 80k as an Associate 2. Ever since it’s been the merely 3% inflation raises, not including switching companies.
My staff 2 to senior 1 raise in audit was 72k to 98k
Promotion to Director $35k base 10k bonus
The question was what was the biggest raise not total comp
The biggest raise I ever got was bout 20% more than my current base salary. Sadly, I had to switch companies to make it happen. I have found that is the most effective way to increase your base salary.
I agree. Base on the market, it's the only way to bump salary. Unless you are moving into a Managerial role in the current company.
I needed to switch jobs to make it happen. I have experienced 5 to 10% increase from annual performance reviews. Sometimes client would hold this off which is really a red flag for me. So it really depends on your goals. But I always make sure I gained enough years of experience on my current that can be advantageous for me no matter what happens.
$48k (industry) to $87k (EY, hired as senior2) back in 2019. It was life changing.
$500 per month in 1991
The biggest raise I ever received was about a 40% raise from changing companies.
The biggest raise I received and still stayed at the same company was a bit more than 9%.
I had quite a few. All of them were milestones I celebrated for sure.
2014: Started at $45k as an audit staff at a regional firm
2016: Moved jobs for a $5k raise to get to $60k. Still in public.
2019: Unfortunately got fired. Ended at $77k. Never got promoted either. Setback.
2020: Started at $65k in small mfg company, took a $12k pay cut
2022: Tried to move companies for pay raise. Current company offered me $25k raise in response to get me to $100k.
2024: Joined a startup mfg company. That paid $125k.
2026: Tried to move companies for a CFO promotion. Current company offered me a $50k raise to get me to $175k.
I usually test the job market every 2 years, but I always pay attention to the job boards. I like to always be in tune with the market.
