If you like the work, do it and caveat that in your book or VO it if anyone ever asks.
There’s work in my book that was my idea but produced without me (freelancer). It wouldn’t exist without me. 🤷♂️
Good point. Very often true as a freelancer.
sounds like you had a big part in that work getting made. i’ve seen people put stuff in their books where they’ve contributed far less than you.
Might depend if you are an art director or copywriter? If Art Director and the executional details completely changed, possibly not so relevant. But if you are writer-side and it was your concept, you wrote the script and indicated all the scenes, and all they did was produce it, why not be able to share it and just indicate what they changed? This happened to me too. Got as far as an animatic to lay out the entire concept and present to client. Was told the project was on hold. A year later a new CD produced it without my knowing until someone who saw it on air and recognized it as my work called to congratulate me! For a long time I didn’t include it. Recently I decided to share the spot along with my animatic for comparison.
Not true. You could be an art director and had little to do with the production execution but everything to do with the idea or selling it through. It wouldn’t exist without you. Just be honest about the role you did play.
Note: the reply above also implies you can’t have a concept as an Art Director. Or have any influence on those scenes or anything before production. Man, I’d hate to work there.
Definitely fair for you to put in your book.
I have a campaign in my book like this. It’s fine AFAIK and you’re honest.
Be clear about your role and you’re good. Doesn’t matter one iota what your role was Art or Copy, just the role you played within it.
I think that should still go in you book if it’s your idea
